What does customization mean in Hector?

Hector can be customized in ten areas, covering your data, your access, your screens and your brand. You add your own fields, define who can see and do what, organize your grids and dashboards, and send out labels, printouts and emails in your own colors.

Everything is configured by your administrators from Hector’s settings. The software follows the way you work, instead of forcing its own way on you.

Everything you can customize in Hector

Every organization manages its assets its own way. Here are the ten levers that make Hector your tool.

Attributes (custom fields)

Add your own fields to records to track information specific to your organization, such as a contract number or a cost center.

Roles and permissions

Create custom roles and define who can manage, view, book, approve or submit requisitions, by category, subcategory or location. The menu also adapts to each role.

Grid tabs

Create your own tabs (views) on every grid in the software. The Views tab in Settings brings them all together: create, edit, duplicate or hide them.

Labels

Barcode, QR code or blank label: choose the format, dimensions, fields and image displayed. Add fixed text, such as your organization’s name.

Dashboards

Build your tiles with bar, line, pie, donut or radar charts, and choose which departments and groups can see each tile.

Branding

Apply your organization’s colors to Hector, right down to your dashboard charts.

Forms

Choose which fields appear and how they’re organized on invoice, payment, requisition and work order forms.

Notifications

Create your own notifications with their triggers and recipients. They now cover maintenance, requisitions, purchase orders, work orders, invoices and payments.

Printouts

Customize the documents Hector prints. Templates now cover maintenance, users, locations, customers, suppliers, contacts and software.

Emails

Adapt the emails Hector sends to your organization’s tone of voice. Templates now extend to maintenance, users, locations, customers, suppliers and software.

Tabs for every way of working

Every team has its own priorities: laptops due for replacement, assets with no assigned owner, overdue work orders. Create a tab for each one on any grid, and manage them all from a single place.

Your questions, answered

Can I add custom fields to asset records?

Yes. Attributes let you add your own fields to records, such as a contract number or a cost center. The Shield and Armor plans include up to 3 custom fields, and the Castle plan includes custom fields with no limit.

Yes, with the advanced roles and permissions in the Castle plan. You define who can manage, view, book, approve or submit requisitions, by category, subcategory and location. Permissions set at one level apply to the levels below, and you can adjust them at each level. The Shield and Armor plans include standard roles and permissions.

Yes. You can create and configure your own tabs (views) on every grid in the software. The new Views tab in Settings brings them all together, so you can create, edit, duplicate or hide them.

Yes. Under Settings › General › Menu, you choose which modules and items appear in the side menu. You can also tailor this menu to each user role.

Yes, with the branding included in the Castle plan. Your organization’s colors are applied throughout Hector, right down to your dashboard charts.

You can choose:

  • the label type (barcode, QR code or blank label)
  • the format, dimensions and margins
  • which fields are displayed and their order
  • your organization’s image or logo
  • fixed text, such as your organization’s name or a phone number

Two default templates are provided, and you can create your own.

You can customize the forms for invoices, payments, requisitions and work orders. For work orders, you can also set up separate forms for each stage and each role.
