What is barcode inventory management software?
It is a tool that identifies each item with a label (barcode, QR, RFID) and lets you scan it to check it in or out, track its movements and keep stock levels up to date, with no manual re-entry.
Do you need a barcode reader, or is a smartphone enough?
A smartphone is enough: the mobile app scans with the camera (Android and iOS). You can also connect an external reader for batch operations.
Which barcode formats are supported?
Hector supports the common formats: 1D, 2D, UPC, EAN and QR codes.
Does Hector generate and print the labels?
Yes. The built-in generator creates unique codes and customizable labels, printable directly from the software, compatible with common printers and readers.
What is the difference between barcode, QR code and RFID?
The barcode (1D) stores little information and is read in line of sight. The QR code (2D) holds more and scans easily with a smartphone. RFID is identified by radio frequency, with no direct line of sight, ideal for fast, high-volume inventories. Hector handles all three.
Can you scan several items at once?
Yes. By connecting a reader, you run batch operations; on a smartphone, you scan in sequence for fast counts.
Does Hector integrate with my other tools?
Yes. Hector integrates with Excel, Outlook, Google Calendar and MECM, among others, and connects to other tools through its native integrations and its API.
