What is user synchronization?

User synchronization means automatically importing and keeping up to date the list of people in your organization in Hector: employees, students, members or clients. Instead of entering each account by hand, you connect your existing source (directory, Excel file) and Hector handles the rest.

It is different from single sign-on (SSO): synchronization creates and updates the accounts, while SSO lets people log in with a single credential. The two work together.

Why add your users?

You keep control of permissions

Set the permission level of each user, or each user type. You stay in control of every operation.

Active users, or simply tracked

Not all your users need to log in: you can add some just to know who a piece of equipment is loaned to, without giving them access to the platform. You decide.

Your teams in self-service

Once added, your users can request a loan, report a breakdown, update the inventory or scan items, according to the rights you grant them.

A base that stays up to date

With automatic synchronization, arrivals and departures are reflected without manual entry. Your user base stays true to reality.

How does it work?

  1. Choose your method: Excel, SCIM connector, Azure Active Directory or manual entry.
  2. Import or sync: Hector pulls your users from the chosen source.
  3. Set the permissions: Per user or per user type.
  4. Your users are ready: They access the authorized actions, or are simply tracked in the inventory.
